About Gangotri Temple

Gangotri is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Ganga located near a sacred stone where King Bhagiratha worshipped Lord Shiva. This temple is one of the important temples dedicated to Goddess Ganga and it is also one of the four Chota Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. The temple is surrounded by Deodar and pines in the Greater Himalayan Range. The holy river Bhagirathi flows along with Gangotri Temple.
