Ammavari Unjali seva - Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

About
Ammavari Unjali Seva is a unique and divine ritual held at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, where the Goddess (Ammavaru) is placed on a beautifully decorated swing (unjal) and gently swayed by devotees. This seva is performed with devotional music, bhajans, and Vedic chants in the background, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. It symbolizes the loving service offered to the Mother Goddess, invoking her blessings for peace, prosperity, and well-being. The swing, adorned with flowers and lamps, represents the joyous celebration of the divine presence in one's life. This seva often follows special festivals or events and is conducted with great reverence and devotion. Devotees participate by singing hymns and witnessing the graceful swaying of the deity, which brings immense spiritual satisfaction. Attending Ammavari Unjali Seva is considered highly auspicious and enhances the devotee’s emotional connection with the divine, fostering bhakti (devotion) and divine grace.
The Unjali Seva begins with the purification of the puja area using Ganga jal or pure water. A decorated swing (unjal) is prepared with fresh flowers, lamps, and fragrant garlands. The idol or Utsava Murti of Ammavaru (Lakshmi Devi) is gently placed on the swing. The priest performs Sankalpam, invoking the name, gotra, and desires of the devotee. The deity is worshipped with Panchopachara or Shodashopachara puja, offering turmeric, kumkum, sandal paste, flowers, incense, deepam, and naivedyam (fruits or sweets). Vedic hymns, especially Lakshmi Ashtottaram or Stotrams, are chanted while gently swaying the swing. Bhajans or traditional songs praising Ammavaru are sung by devotees. The seva concludes with Harathi (aarti), distribution of prasadam, and blessings from the priest. This puja is typically performed in the evening when the serene atmosphere enhances the divine experience, invoking blessings of prosperity, harmony, and maternal protection from the Goddess.
