Sataghatabhishekam - Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

About
Sataghatabhishekam is a powerful and sacred ritual performed at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, where the deity is bathed with water from 100 holy pots (ghatas). Each ghata is filled with sanctified water mixed with herbs, flowers, and divine essences, and is charged with Vedic mantras and hymns. This abhishekam symbolizes purification, devotion, and the flow of divine energy. The ritual is conducted with great reverence and is accompanied by the chanting of Narasimha Stotra, Purusha Suktam, and other sacred texts. The act of offering 100 pots of water represents the devotee’s complete surrender and the washing away of karmic impurities. This seva is usually performed to seek blessings for health, protection, wealth, and spiritual upliftment. It is believed that witnessing or participating in Sataghatabhishekam removes doshas, ensures family well-being, and invokes Lord Narasimha’s fierce yet compassionate grace, bringing immense peace and prosperity to devotees’ lives.
The Sataghatabhishekam begins with Sankalpam, where the devotee’s name, gotra, and purpose of the puja are recited by the priest. A total of 100 kalashas (sacred pots) are filled with sanctified water, often mixed with herbs, rose water, turmeric, sandalwood, tulsi, and flowers. These kalashas are placed around the deity and energized through Vedic chanting, especially the Purusha Suktam and Narasimha mantras. The deity, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, is then bathed with the water from each pot in a grand and rhythmic manner. The abhishekam is performed amidst sounds of conch, bells, and devotional music. After the abhishekam, the Lord is adorned with new clothes, garlands, and ornaments, followed by deepa aradhana and naivedyam. Devotees receive theertham and prasadam at the end. The entire ritual symbolizes spiritual cleansing and devotion, and is performed with utmost faith to seek divine blessings, protection, and fulfillment of desires.
