The Lord instructed him to construct a temple and locate idols of Bhoodevi, Sridevi, and Balaji. At the location that the Lord indicated, the devotee discovered a molehill. He began excavating and used his axe to strike Balaji's idol. The earth became scarlet as blood poured from the idol. He was instructed to cover the area with milk by a holy voice. The idols of Bhoodevi, Sridevi, and Balaji soon appeared. The temple was furnished with these idols. Devotees who are unable to go to Tirupati have since been blessed by Lord Balaji. There is greenery all around the temple. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come here.

In the morning , Daily temple opens at 5:00 AM and close at 1:00 PM. In the afternoon 1:00pm to 4:00PM temple remain closed. Then at 4:00 PM temple will reopen for darshan and closed at 8:00PM. Chilkur Balaji temple timings may have different during festivals and special occasions.

At Chilkur Balaji Temple, devotees follow the usual rituals of prayer. They first walk eleven times around the inner shrine. After this, they make a vow to the deity. When the vow is fulfilled, they walk one hundred and eight times around the sanctum. These one hundred and eight walks show the faith and gratitude of the devotees. The eleven walks stand for the secret of creation. The number eleven means one soul and one body.
