About Karila Dham Temple - Ashoknagar

Karila Mata Temple is an ancient temple located in Karila village of Mungaoli in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Karila village is located about 35 km from Ashoknagar. This temple is especially famous because  Devi Sita is worshipped here without Lord Rama. This is a special and unique tradition. In this temple, only the idols of Devi Sita, her sons Luv-Kush and Maharishi Valmiki have been established, while no idol of Lord Shri Ram is installed. Karila Mata Temple is associated with the time of the Ramayana. It is believed that when Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya, after Lord Shri Ram abandoned Devi Sita, then Devi Sita came to the ashram of Maharishi Valmiki and Luv and Kush were born at this place. For this reason, it is also called the birthplace of Luv-Kush. Every year on the occasion of Rangpanchami, a huge festival is organised here, which is known as Karila Mela. This festival is held from 18 to 20 March, and millions of devotees attend it. This temple is not only important from a religious point of view, but its unique worship method and cultural traditions also make it special.
