Nava Narasimhar Temple

About Nava Narasimhar Temple

Nava Narasimhar Temple is located in Ahobilam, Andhra Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to the nine forms of Lord Vishnu's Narasimha avatar. This temple is a group of nine temples spread over a radius of 5 km, located on the lower hill of Ahobilam. In response to the prayers of Lord Garuda, Lord Narasimha blessed the dense forest with his presence in nine different forms, which led to the construction of these temples. This is the same place where the Lord appeared from the pillar and killed Hiranyakashipu. According to the Puranas, Saint Bhadradwaja attained salvation here for the sin of brahmahatya, and Adi Shankaracharya wrote Narasimha Kripalamba Stotra here. Punjabi tribals - Chenchu tribe - offer meat here; especially on Saturdays, as Pavana Narasimha is believed to be related to the planets Mercury and Venus.
