The Prambanan temple complex has more than 240 temples, including the three main temples (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) and the temples of their vehicles (Nandi, Swan and Garuda). Construction period: 9th century (about 850 AD) Builder: Rakai Pikatan, who was the ruler of the Mataram Kingdom. The temple is just a short distance from the Buddhist Borobudur temple, reflecting the coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism in the region.
