On 25 July 2021, Ramappa Temple was recognized as a World Heritage Site at the 44th World Heritage Committee meeting of UNESCO. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Telangana on this achievement and urged them to experience the grandeur of this temple firsthandIt was built in the 13th century during the reign of the Kakatiya dynasty and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. The chief architect of its architecture was Ramappa, after whom the temple is named. The temple was built in about 40 years and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped as Ramalingeswara.
