About Samudra Narayan Temple Dwarka
The Samudra Narayan Temple, also called the Dwarka Temple, is a famous Hindu temple in Dwarka, India. It is believed to have been constructed more than 2000 years ago. The temple is associated with Lord Krishna, who ruled the kingdom of Dwarka. The statue is made up of material that is similar to the colour of sand.
History of Samudra Narayan Temple, Dwarka
The Samudra Narayan Temple is near the meeting point of the Arabian Sea and River Gomti. It is dedicated to Goddess Gomti. The story says that after Rama’s fight with Ravana, Rishi Vasishtha brought River Gomti from heaven. He did this to purify Rama. After Rama was cleansed, Goddess Gomti appeared on the ghat. Then she went into the Arabian Sea. The temple also has idols of Lord Varuna, Samudra Deva, Mira Bai, and Mother Asta Bhavani. There is a holy tank, called a kund, where people offer sacrifices.
Architecture of Dwarka Samudra Narayan Temple
People from many countries visit the temple for its beautiful design. Near the Samudra Narayan temple, there are five wells with sweet water. This is called Panchanada Teertha. At a nearby shrine, called Chakra Narayana, you can see a stone with Sudarshan Chakra. It shows Lord Vishnu. After visiting Chakra Narayana, you can go to a meditation cave called Manoratha Dwar. Many saints did Dhyaan yoga in this cave. In the evening, cool sea winds make the place peaceful. At sunset, you can take lovely photos of the River Gomti.

The Dwarka Railway Station is the nearest station, located about 3 km from the temple. Local transports and taxis are available from the station to reach the temple.
By Air
The nearest airport is Porbandar Airport, about 110 km away, or Jamnagar Airport, around 130 km. Taxis can be hired from these airports to reach Dwarka. Even one can take public transport to reach the temple.
By Road
Dwarka is well connected by road to major cities in Gujarat. From the city centre, the temple is easily accessible by local transport as it is near the Dwarkadhish Temple. From the nearby cities, public transport is easily available.
