Sri Ghati Subrahmanya Temple is a famous Hindu temple in Doddaballapura, Karnataka. It is about 60 km from Bangalore. This temple is known for the worship of Lord Kartikeya (Subrahmanya) and Lord Narasimha.Sri Ghati Subrahmanya Temple is a major Hindu temple located in Doddaballapura taluk of Bangalore Rural district in the state of Karnataka. This temple is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya (Subramanya) and Lord Narasimha. This place is especially famous for snake worship and child birth.The temple was established around 600 years ago, when King Srimant Gorpade of the Gorpade dynasty discovered the Swayambhu idols. The site dates back to the time when Lord Kartikeya killed the demon Ghatikasura, giving the place the name 'Ghati Subrahmanya'. The temple houses a Swayambhu idol of Lord Kartikeya in the form of a seven-hooded serpent, facing the east. Behind them, the idol of Lord Narasimha is facing west. A big mirror has been installed behind the sanctum sanctorum to see both the idols together. There are many types of worships in the temple which include five main pujas, the first is Sarp Dosh Nivaran Puja which gives relief from Sarp Dosh. The second is Nag Pratishtha Puja in which the snake deity is worshipped, the third is Ashlesha Bali Puja in which the snake deity is sacrificed, and Kuja Dosh Puja in which this puja is done for the removal of Mangal Dosh, and lastly Navgrah Shanti Puja which is done for the peace of the nine planets. The Yatri Niwas located near the temple has 35 rooms available, which are equipped with facilities like 24 hour hot water, attached toilet, and pure drinking water. This Niwas is located at a distance of about 500 meters from the main temple. There are 5 main festivals celebrated in the temple which are: 1. Brahma Rathotsav, 2. Nagpanchami, 3. Narasimha Jayanti, 4. Champa Shashthi, 5. Kumar Shashthi. During these festivals, special prayers and fairs are organized in the temple, in which devotees from far and wide participate.
