Shri Siddheshwar Temple is a major religious place located in Solapur, Maharashtra, which is considered extremely sacred for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This temple is located in Solapur city in Madhya Pradesh and on the banks of Siddheshwar Lake. Yogi Shri Siddharameshwar established this temple in the 12th century. He was a disciple of Shri Mallikarjuna and on the orders of his guru, he established 68 lingas in the Solapur area. These 68 Shivlingas can be seen in the temple premises, among which Amrit Linga is prominent. This temple is also the Samadhi Sthal of Shri Siddharameshwar. The temple and the lake are being managed by 'Shri Siddheshwar Devasthan Panch Samiti' since 1899. Devotee residence, food and restaurant facilities are available near the temple. Also, there is a library in the temple premises, where books related to religious literature and history of the temple are available. Annadan Seva is organized twice a day in the temple, through this service food is provided to about 10,000 devotees. This is a symbol of charity journey of devotees and social responsibility of the temple. The main festival of the temple is Gadda Yatra, which is celebrated for 15 days during Makar Sankranti. During this time special puja and Rath Yatra are organized in the temple. And the second Makar Sankranti is celebrated in January, this festival is celebrated with special celebration in the temple. According to the records, the Siddheshwar temple was built by Shri Siddharameshwar, who was a yogi and a devotee of Shri Mallikarjuna of Srisailam. He built this temple and installed 68 Lingas in the temple as per the instructions of his guru. It is said that prosperity started coming to Solapur city at the time of birth of Shri Siddheshwar, in which Lingayat religion is also considered as the fifth deity and devotees take blessings of this deity.
