A Military Battalion that included a Doli Bearer named Suriti Appaiah was sent to Ujjaini in 1813. Thousands of individuals perished as cholera struck a virulent company at the time. Suriti Appaiah and his colleagues visited Mahakali Devasthanam at Ujjaini and offered prayers for the installation of the idol of Mahakali, Secunderabad, should the people be spared from the pandemic. Thus, in July 1815, Sri Suriti Appaiah and his colleagues placed the wooden statue of Goddess Mahakali in Secunderabad on their return from Ujjaini.
In addition to Sri Mahakali Ammavaru, a stone idol known as Manikyalamma was discovered during the sanctum sanctorum's construction. A stone statue of Goddess Mahakali was erected in 1964. Later, Sri Suriti Appaiah created the Devasthanam with the assistance of philanthropic individuals. The management of the Devasthanam has since been taken over by the Endowments Department.

Festival celebrations of Ujjaini Mahakali Temple, Secunderabad

Ghatothsavam:

This festivity at Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Temple in Secunderabad will start on the first Sunday of the month of Ashada. Similar to a bridegroom's procession, the Karbala Maidan Ghatam is adorned with flowers and other decorations before being carried in a procession with music and a band in the style of "Vampuja" for the goddess. We name this "Yedorkolupu". The Ghatam is stored at the temple upon arrival. In a brief ceremony accompanied by music and mangal vadyam, the Ghatam visits every home and residence in every basti or street for fifteen days starting the next day.

Kolupu Potharaju Bali:

Kolupu occurs after 15 days have passed. On Sunday, this is done. Traditionally, "animal sacrifice" was offered to the deity. The buffalo was sliced at one point and collapsed. This split head was placed atop a person's head and proceeded to distribute the bali samagri, dancing, bouncing, and showcasing a potharaju's ability around the temple. When touring the temple, the entire area was breathtaking to view. However, it has been illegal to perform "animal sacrifice" for the past 25 years; instead, "Kushmanda Bali" is performed by custom. According to the goddess's magnificence, "an infinite number of animals were sacrificed, and blood poured down in all directions." Rain would fall the same night, washing away the blood that had spread across the entire region and cleaning the grounds.

Rangam:

During the Ammavari Jatara era, Rangam is worth seeing. An unmarried lady stands on a remaining pot in front of the goddess within the temple, looking at the statue with the deepest devotion and prayers. The mother goddess answers right away and predicts the positive things that will happen in the upcoming year. Near the temple, thousands of devotees gather and listen attentively to the Rangam.

Saganamputa:

The Ghatam is said to be leaving in a procession on Monday with significant pomp and ceremony. The Ghatam's decoration is removed at Mettuguda. For those who participate, the Jatara experience will always be remembered.
