Sri Kanakala Katta Maisamma Devalayam Hyderabad

About Sri Kanakala Katta Maisamma Devalayam Hyderabad

Sri Kanakala Katta Maisamma Devalayam, located near Lower Tank Bund in Hyderabad, is a powerful and historic temple dedicated to Goddess Maisamma. Believed to have been established during the construction of the Tank Bund, the temple gained prominence when Nizam Mahboob Ali Khan visited it in 1908 to offer prayers during floods. Devotees revere the goddess as a protector, especially before long journeys or important life events. The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with extended timings on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Aarti is performed during both sessions, and special poojas like Chandi Homam are conducted on full moon days and festivals like Bonalu and Dussehra. Prasad is distributed after poojas, and photography is generally allowed in outer areas, though restricted in the sanctum. Its location near Hussain Sagar makes it a peaceful yet spiritually vibrant destination.
