About Sri Nalla Pochamma Temple Hyderabad

Sri Nalla Pochamma Temple is a revered Hindu temple located at Mekalabanda, near Lal Darwaza in the historic old city of Hyderabad, Telangana. It is one of the oldest and most important temples dedicated to Goddess Pochamma, a fierce form of Shakti worshipped in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This temple holds deep religious and cultural significance among the devotees, especially during the famous Bonalu Festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the month of Asadha (June-July). The temple is believed to be spiritually powerful and devotees claim that divine footprints of the goddess are visible in the temple premises. The architecture of the temple is traditional, with folk-style elements reflecting the native temple art of Telangana. Devotees offer rice, jaggery, turmeric, vermillion, neem leaves and coconut to the goddess. During the Bonalu festival women wear a unique gift "bonam" on their heads.
