Surkanda Devi Temple is a famous Hindu temple located near Dhanolti in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. This temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. This temple is located at an altitude of about 2,756 meters (9,042 feet) above sea level and is surrounded by dense forests on all sides. Surkanda Devi Temple is a major Shaktipeeth located on Surkut mountain in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state. This temple is located at an altitude of about 2757 meters (9042 feet) above sea level. From here one can see a breathtaking view of the beautiful mountain ranges of the Himalayas and the surrounding areas. Surkanda Devi Temple is considered to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. According to legend, wherever various parts of Goddess Sati's body fell, Shaktipeeths were established. The place where Goddess Sati's head fell became famous as Surkanda. The idols of Goddess Durga and Goddess Kali are installed here. It is said that by worshiping here all the troubles of the devotees are removed.
