Swaminathaswamy temple in Swamimalai is dedicated to Lord Murugan, a form of Kartikeya Swamy, son of Lord Shiva and Parvati Mata. Swamimalai is the second of Lord Murugan’s six abodes. Here Lord Shiva is known as Sundereshwara and Parvati Mata is known as Meenakshi. This is one of the most revered religious destinations in South India.
