Temples in Hyderabad

The Jagannath Temple was built by the Odia community of the city of Hyderabad, The temple is located near Banjara hills and is famous for its Rathyatra festival. Jagannath means Lord of the Universe. The temple which was constructed in 2009 recently lies in the Center of Hyderabad City. The temple is constructed in red stone, besides the main deity, the temple has smaller shrines dedicated to Lakshmi, Shiva, Ganesha, Hanuman and Navagraha.

The Birla Mandir is situated near the southern end of Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. At the top of the kala Pahad which is a twin hillock of Naubat Pahad. The Birlas built the temple in 1976 and constructed it with white marble imported from Rajasthan. The hillock is at a height of 280 feet situated on a 13-acre plot. The temple combines the architectural styles of Utkal and South Indian styles.

ISKCON Hyderabad Temple, also known as Sri Radha-Madana-Mohana Temple, is in Hyderabad Abids area. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna, but it also has other idols like Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Jagannatha Baladeva-Subhadra and Sri Radha Madana-Mohana. This temple in Hyderabad is a part of the international religious organisation ISKCON. Also known as the Hare Krishna movement, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966, in New York City.

Yellamma temple is a Hindu goddess temple located at Balkampet in Hyderabad. Goddess Yellamma is considered the “Mother of the Universe”, and she is also known as Goddess Renuka and Goddess Jagadamba. This Yellamma Devi Temple also has another small temple, towards the south side, for Pochamma Devi. Goddess Pochamma is the Kshetrapalaka of this temple. And therefore, the temple is also called Sri Yellamma Pochamma Devasthanam. Balkampet Yellamma Temple's history goes back to the 15th century. While digging a well, people found a rock with a sculpture of the goddess engraved on it. This idol was found 10 feet deep in the ground and they could not move the stone. So, a temple was built in that place. This temple has been renovated many times after that. And the current temple has been standing tall for some time in the 20th century.

It is the first Golden Temple to be constructed in Hyderabad, Telangana. It was inaugurated in 2018 by Vice President of India Sri Venkaiah Naidu. About 700 years ago the Lord certainly saw himself as Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami at Banjara Hills. Along with Lord Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, Lord Shiva also self-manifested himself as Swayambhu Sri Panchajanyeshwara Swami at the same place. Festivals like Janmashtami, Radhastami, Govardhan Puja, and Vaikuntha Ekadashi are celebrated joyfully.

Bhagyalakshmi temple is a shrine dedicated to a Hindu goddess located in Hyderabad. This temple is located in the city's historic monument Charminar while a Hindu trust manages the temple dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi. The origin of the temple is currently disputed and the current structure that houses the idol was erected in the 1960 A.D. Devotees consider visiting the temple auspicious on Diwali festival as the temple is usually decorated grandly with flowers and special lights.

Shri Ashtalakshmi Temple is a famous Hindu temple that was built on 22nd April 1996 A.D. Dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, The temple is present in Vasavi Colony, Hyderabad. Goddess Ashtalakshmi, also spelled as Ashta Lakshmi is a group of eight Lakshmis. Ashta represents Eight and Lakshmi represents the Goddess of wealth.

Sitaram Bagh Temple is situated in Mangalhat, Hyderabad. The main deity is Sri Sita Rama Chandra Swami. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage has granted Sitaram Bagh Temple as a Historic site. Puranmal Ganeriwala built Sitaram Bagh Temple 180 years ie in 1833. This temple was a combination of Rajasthani, Mughal and European designs of construction and is built on 25 acres and has 20 feet tall boundary wall. The idols of Lord Rama and Seeta Devi are made of marble and were brought from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Lord Shiva, Goddess Lakshmi Devi, Lord Varadaraja Swamy and Sri Hanuman idols are also positioned in this temple.

Shri Shyam Baba Temple is found at Kachiguda in Hyderabad district of Telangana. Lord Sri Krishna is ruling among the divine as Sri Shyam Prabhu. The temple is inaugurated by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swami and Sri Ananth Saraswathi Swami on the 22nd of April month in 1996 A.D. The temple has three floors with a raised facility. The architecture temple blueprint was prepared by Sri Ganapathi Sthapathi, one of the foremost and most glorious temple architects around the globe.
