Pind daan as per Hindu belief is a ritual to offer homage to the departed soul.
Varanasi or Kashi is believed to be the Udar (Stomach) of Lord Vishnu ji. The Pind daan given here directly reaches to our ancestors which helps them to attain moksh in the after life.
How is it Performed
Pind daan is done after taking a bath. It is required to wear white holy clothes during shradh karma like traditional dhotis, kurta, etc. Pind daan is done offering rice, jaggery, sweets, etc under the guidance and mantras of brahmins.
The Puja is done at the Harish Chandra Ghat in Varanasi
