About Patalpuri Temple
Patalpuri temple is one of the ancient temples in Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh. The temple is located within the grounds of the historical Prayagraj Fort very before it was known as Allahabad Fort. There are many God and Goddess idols in the temple which includes Lord Ram and Mata Sita worshipped here during their Vanvas. The temple is inside the fort and very near to other pilgrimage places like Triveni Sangam and Bade Hanuman Ji Temple, there is also one Banyan tree known to be as Akshayvat which grows outside the temple as it is believed that people used to jump from it to get free from the cycle of rebirth.
