Goddess Lakshmi is the wife of Lord Vishnu. She is known as the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Lakshmi is the Sanskrit word "laksh" which means goal, signifying her ability to bestow prosperity and fulfil desires. Goddess Lakshmi is considered the harbinger of wealth, prosperity and good fortune and worshipping her brings financial stability, happiness and success in personal and professional endeavours. This puja is performed to honor Goddess Lakshmi for bringing future wealth and prosperity to the family. Goddess Lakshmi is also known as the protector of Dharma.

The term "Rudra" refers to Lord Shiva, who is often called "Rudra" in the Vedas, and "Abhishek" means ritualistic offering. This puja includes the bathing of Lord Shiva along with chanting of mantras with items like Panchamrit, Milk and other sacred items.
