When to Perform Panchopchar Puja

Panchopchar Puja Samagri

Here is the complete samagri of Panchopchar Puja:

1. Gandha (Fragrance): Offering sandalwood paste or any other fragrant substance.

2. Pushpa (Flowers): Offering of fresh flowers.

3. Dhoopa (Incense): Offering of incense sticks or dhoop.

4. Deepa (Lamp): Lighting of a lamp, usually with ghee or oil.

5. Naivedya (Food): Offering food, which can include fruits, sweets or cooked items.

1. Sankalp is taken by the devotees

2. Prayers of Deity are done by taking his name

3. Abhishek is done with offering all five things one by one with chanting mantras.

Panchopchar Puja Mantra & Meaning 

In this puja, different mantras are chanted for each of the five offerings.

1. Mantra for offering Gandha (sandalwood paste)

"ॐ श्रीखण्डं चन्दनं दिव्यं गन्धाढ्यं सुमनोहरम्। विलेपणं सुरश्रेष्ठ चन्दनं प्रतिगृह्यताम्॥"

• Meaning

“O Lord, I offer this divine sandalwood paste, full of fragrance and purity. May this sacred sandal paste be accepted by You, the best among the gods.”

2. Mantra for presenting Pushpa (flowers)

"ॐ मल्लिकादिसुगन्धीनि मालत्यादीनि वै प्रभो। मयानीतानि पुष्पाणि पूजार्थं प्रतिगृह्यताम्। पुष्पाणि समर्पयामि॥"

• Meaning

“O Lord, I present these fragrant flowers like jasmine and malati, brought with devotion for Your worship. Kindly accept these flowers offered to you with love.”

3. Mantra for lighting Dhoop (incense)

"ॐ बृजधूपे स्वाहा॥"

•  Meaning

“O Lord, may this sacred incense bring purity to the surroundings and please You with its fragrance.”

4. Mantra for lighting Deep (Lamp)

"ॐ बृजदीपे स्वाहा॥"

• Meaning

“O Lord, I light this holy lamp before You. May its divine light remove darkness and fill this place with peace and knowledge.”

5. Mantra for presenting Naivedya (food offering)

"ॐ बृजनेवेद्ये स्वाहा॥"

• Meaning

“O Lord, I present this sacred food as a humble offering. May You accept it and bless us with nourishment, prosperity, and satisfaction.”
