Temples in Tirupati

Shree Padhmaavadhi Ammavaari Temple is located in the city of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and is dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi. Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is also known as Alamelu Mangapuram Temple because it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi was born as Alamelu and married to Venkateshwara Swami of Tirupati. She used to appear and give darshan to Lord Venkateshwara on a lotus at the temple. This temple has a beautiful Avatar of the goddess Padmavathi and the cravings of goddesses Lakshmi, Durga, Sarasvati and many more and is made in the Dravidian style.

The ISKCON Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in the holy city of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The temple is located on a hill also known as the Hare Krishna Hill and is built in a neo-classical style with typical South Indian temple Gopurams. There are 4 gopurams inside the temple which are joined by a glass roof that looks amazing. This temple was built to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Prabhupada, the founder of the whole community. The peaceful atmosphere and the continuous chanting of Hare Rama, Hare Krishna are extremely soothing.

Kapileswara Swamy temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located near the Tirumala hills in Andhra Pradesh. The temple also attracts huge waterfalls from the mountain stream Palapa Vinasanam. The main idol of the temple is believed and positioned by Kapila Muni, so Lord Shiva is worshipped as Kapileswara and a massive stone statue of Nandi is situated at the entrance of the temple. There are many holy places within the main temple premises like Kamakshi, Vinayaka, Subhramanya, Agastheeswara and Sri Krishna. Both the temple and the waterfall are considered to be highly sacred. This is a good place to visit during the monsoons as the waterfall looks amazing but the waterfall would be empty in the late winter and summer seasons. The festivals also celebrated in the temple are Brahmotsavam, Annabhishekam, Maha Shivarathri and Vinayaka Chaturthi. Kapileswara Swamy Brahmotsavam is the biggest event of the temple celebrated during the month of February.

The Govindaraja Swamy temple is one of the most ancient temples located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. This famous temple in Tirupati is a remarkable achievement of ancient South Indian architecture. It has an inspiring outer gopura and an inner gopura. The innermost gopura is the earliest one, dating from the 14th century and has sculptures that describe pictures from Ramayana and Lord Krishna's life. The temple has two main shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna. The shrine to the north is Sri Govindaraja and the shrine to the south is Sri Parthasarathi (Lord Krishna). The idols of Rukmini and Satyabhama are also found here. Also, festivals like Bramhotsavam of Govindaraja Swamy and the annual Float festival attract a large number of devotees every year.

Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located in the Tirupati District of Andhra Pradesh. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu called Kalyana Venkateswara. Lord Venkateswara Swamy idol is 9 feet tall and in standing posture with four hands, the left two hands one in varada mudra and one holding chakra and the right two hands one in kati mudra and the other holding shanka. The best time to visit the temple is the month of September to February.

Venugopala Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The temple was constructed around the 14th century and is believed that this holy place was made by Saint Sri Ramanujacharya. The main deity of the temple is Sri Venugopala Swamy, the temple also houses the idols of Sri Satyabhama Ammavaru and Sri Rukmini Ammavaru. There is also a small temple of Sri Seetharamula Pattabhishekam within the temple premises. The main festivals celebrated at Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple are Gokulashtami, Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Teppotsavam and Brahmotsavam.

Kodandarama Temple is located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The main deities are Sita, Rama and Lakshmana, this temple was constructed by the Cholas in the 10th century. The temple of Anjaneyaswami which is directly opposite, is a mini shrine located in the temple. According to legend, this temple celebrates the visit of Sri Rama to Tirupathi and festivals like Ugadi and Ramanavami are celebrated.
