About Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati

Sri venkateswara swamy temple also known as Tirumala Tirupati devasthanams which is located at the top of the seshachalam hills. Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is one of the most visited temple in hindu pilgrimage. this temple is dedicated to lord venkateswara, an avatar of lord Vishnu, temple is known for its spiritual atmosphere, ancient Dravidian architecture and strict adherence to the traditional customs. Pallavas in the 9th Century Provided the first major endowments and structural foundations. Cholas in 10th–12th Century Expanded the temple and established a detailed administrative systems. Vijayanagara Empire in 14th–16th Century, Emperor Krishnadevaraya visited seven times and famously gilded the inner shrine's roof in gold. After the British rule, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) was formed in 1933 to manage the temple independently. the main deity was considered as self-manifested means not carved by man. Srivari Brahmotsavam known as The Grand Festival is the most important festival at this place, lasting for 9 days usually in September or October. Legend says Lord Brahma himself first conducted this festival to thank Lord Vishnu. vaikunta ekadasi occurring in the December or january is considered as the most sacred day for Vishnu devotees.
