Bhilwara - Navgrah Hawan
About
Navagraha Havan is performed to appease all the nine Grahas and reduce the malefic effects of the planets in one’s life. Navagraha Havan is also known as Navagraha Homam which involves worshipping the nine celestial bodies or planets that are believed to have an important role in human life. The term "Navagraha" means nine celestial bodies in Sanskrit where nava means nine and Graha means planet or celestial body. These planets include Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Lunar Node) and Ketu (South Lunar Node). The Navagraha Havanat Durgiana Temple is performed to take blessings for a good life including health, wealth, family and overall well-being.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of all the nine grahs is done by the pujari ji with the help of mantras and prayers chanted to invoke all the navgrah or nine planets. Then chanting of mantras is done by the pujari by following all the Vedic rituals. At last, Hawan is done of all the nine planets and then the puja is completed.
