Nav means “Nine” and Chandi refers to Chandika meaning “The Fierce” –another form of Goddess Durga who represents the Shakti power of Durga Saptashati. It consists of 700 verses that narrate the story of the goddess and her battle against the buffalo demon, Mahishasura.
