About
Navratri is made up of two words “Nav” meaning nine and “Ratri” meaning night. Goddess Durga has nine form include Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri. Navratri is nine day festival it is celebrated over nine nights and ten days. The Navratri tells the story of the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasur. Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a different form of Durga. Goddess is known as shakti the ultimate source of energy and power. By worshiping the Goddess daily during Navratri, devotees gets the blessings of the Goddess.
At first kalash is establish with Mango leaves and coconut in a red cloth and tie it with a red thread, leaving the top of the coconut uncovered. hen invoking Goddess Durga is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then all the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Then pujari chants shlok from Durga Saptashati. At last, arti is done of the Goddess and the puja is completed.
