Panchamrit Abhishek Puja in which the "Panchamrita" literally means "five nectars, Panchamrit Abhishek is a ritual puja in Mahurgad where five liquids are poured over the deities and mantras are chanted. The word Panchamrit is a combination of two words Panch which means five and Amrita which means nectar. The five main ingredients are used to make Panchamrit including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. These all are mixed. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the puja is completed, the Panchamrut is distributed as prasad.
At first sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of Goddess Renuka devi is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then Panchamrit is used to Abhishek on Renuka devi along with mantras chanted by the pujari. At last, arti is done by the pujari and blessings are taken by the devotees.
