About
Pind Daan is a ritual performed by offering food and water to the ancestors or the soul. This ritual is mostly performed on Pitru Paksha or death anniversary. One can perform this puja at Naimisharanya.
Tarpan Puja also involves offering water to the ancestors. It is also considered a daily ritual performed by many people to satisfy the thirst of the departed soul and seek their blessing.
At first devotees take a bath in the holy river and wear a ring of "Kush" grass. Then Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. During this ritual reciting Gaytri Manta is the most important part. Devotees offer Rice, Ghee, Sugar, water with mixed black sesame seeds, Kusha grass and White flowers to soul to satisfy them and then devotees offer sweets and clothes to the pujari with south side face. At last, devotees share food with crow, cow, ants and dogs and the puja is completed.
