Navgrah Puja and Havan means worshipping all the 9 Grah which include the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. It is an auspicious ritual dating back to the ancient Vedic times. Navgrah Shanti Puja in Ujjain is performed to reduce the negative effects of the planets and enhance their positive influences on one’s life. In this puja, all the nine planets in the horoscope are worshipped. It is believed that once, Lord Vishnu told Lord Shiva that - The one who worships the Navgraha with appropriate rituals attains all four Purusharth which include dharma, artha, kaam and moksha in life.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees then mantras are chanted to invoke all the Navgrah or nine planets. It is followed with puja of Lord Ganesh and all the Navgrah. Then Hawan is done for all the Navgrah. At last, aarti is done to receive the blessings of the Navgrah.
