About

Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja with Tarpan is a spiritual ritual performed to honor and please our ancestors. It is believed that when ancestors’ souls are not satisfied or certain rites are not done properly, Pitru Dosh occurs, bringing obstacles in life. Through this puja, prayers and offerings (tarpan) of water, sesame seeds, and food are made to ancestors for their peace. It helps remove ancestral doshas, brings blessings, family harmony, prosperity, and spiritual growth.

Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja with Tarpan starts with cleaning the place and taking a sankalp (prayer promise). A kalash is placed with holy water, and Lord Ganesha is worshipped first. Then, ancestors are invoked with mantras. Tarpan is offered by pouring water mixed with black sesame, barley, and flowers while chanting their names. Pind daan with rice or flour balls is also done. Finally, prasad and food are given to Brahmins or needy people for blessings.
