About
Tarpan Puja is a Hindu ritual offering water to the ancestors. During the puja at Prayagraj special mantras and prayers are chanted. The name and Gotra of the soul are mentioned in the prayers.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu is done with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari following the Vedic rituals. Then a small quantity of things like sesame seeds or rice grains are taken in the right hand of the devotees. Then offering of water is done in a vessel while chanting the names of the ancestors of the devotees. At last, prayer is done and the puja is completed.
