Navgrah Puja and Havan means worshipping all the 9 Grah which include the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. It is an auspicious ritual dating back to the ancient Vedic times. In Rameshwaram, Navgrah Shanti Puja is performed to reduce the negative effects of the planets and enhance their positive influences on one’s life. In this puja, all the nine planets in the horoscope are worshipped. It is believed that once, Lord Vishnu told Lord Shiva that - The one who worships the Navgraha with appropriate rituals attains all four Purusharth which include dharma, artha, kaam and moksha in life.
This Hawan is performed by invoking all the nine Grahas followed by the chanting of Navagraha Mantra and then performing this Homam by providing nine types of daanyams, flowers, coloured Vastra pieces & Naivedyam to the Grahas and receiving the blessings of all the nine Grahas.
