Srinagar - Navgrah Hawan

About
Navagraha Havan is also known as Navagraha Homam which involves worshipping the nine celestial bodies or planets that are believed to have an important role in human life. The term "Navagraha" means nine celestial bodies in Sanskrit where nava means nine and Graha means planet or celestial body. These planets include Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Lunar Node) and Ketu (South Lunar Node).
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then all the nine planets are invoked by the priest with the help of mantras and prayers. After this, Kalash Puja is done and then mantras are chanted by the priest following all the Vedic rituals. In this puja, two Pandits perform Navgrah Havan with all the nine planets and then the puja is completed.
