Surat - Navgrah Puja
About
The word 'Navgrah' is derived from Sanskrit. 'Nav' means nine and 'Grah' means planet. The nine planets Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, and Rahu are the nine planetary deities that affect human life. Navgrah affects a person's life positively or negatively. The havan is performed according to the person's birth horoscope and involves nine steps, each with separate aahuti and mantra for a planet.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of all the nine grah(planets) is done by the pujari ji with the help of mantras and prayers. The Navagraha pooja is performed in the prescribed manner with the Nava Dravyas of the 9 planets. Navagraha Sooktam is recited and 108 Namavalis of all the 9 planets are recited.
