"Naivedyam" is a Sanskrit term used in to refer to the food offered to deities during worship. After the offering of bhog to Lord Ganesh is done it is distributed as prasad  It is believed that performing this ritual is the best way of expressing devotation to the Lord Ganesha.

The son of Goddess Parvati Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta (remover of obstacles) and is worshipped first before any auspicious ritual or ocassion. Mahapuja is a worship ritual that allows many devotees to simultaneously participate in prayer. During this ritual, devotees pray to God.
