Sri Yogeshwari Mata Temple is an ancient temple of Goddess Durga located at Ambejogai, Maharashtra and it is one of the most famous Shaktipeeth. Yogeshwari Mata is the kuldevi of the Ahir community. Many Brahmins of Gujarat and Rajasthan respect Yogeshwari Mata as their Kuldevi. Yogeshwari Mata is Kulaswamini of many families in Maharashtra especially of Konkanastha Chitpavan Brahmins and Karhade Brahmins. It is also known to be matruka shakti of Lord Shiva. Her name is derived from the words Yoga and Ishwari. This means that she is the controller of Shakti Yoga.
