About Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple
The historic Marudhamalai Murugan Temple is a highly revered Hindu hilltop shrine beautifully situated in the Western Ghats, approximately 15 kilometers west of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Murugan (worshipped here in the magnificent form of Dhandayuthapani, holding a sacred staff), this ancient 12th-century temple is culturally celebrated as the "Seventh Abode of Murugan." The spiritual site is steeped in rich historical folklore, famously serving as the meditation ground for Pambatti Siddhar, one of the 18 great Tamil mystics who achieved enlightenment inside a natural cave near the summit. Today, millions of devout pilgrims and travel enthusiasts visit the sacred hills each year to experience the temple's natural healing herbal air and to participate in vibrant, world-famous Tamil festivals like Thaipusam (featuring the grand golden chariot procession), Skanda Sashti, and Panguni Uthiram.
