About Bageshwar Bagnath Temple
The Bagnath Temple is located in the city of Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The city Bageshwar gets it's name from the name of the temple. According to the Hindu texts, Sage Markandeya worshipped Lord Shiva here. Lord Shiva blessed sage Markandeya in the form of a tiger. The present temple was built in the year 1450 by Chand ruler, Laxmi Chand. The idols in the temple was dated to be from the 7th century to 16th century.
