Bhojeshwar Mahadev Temple is a famous and mythological Shiva temple located in Bhojpur village of Bhopal. This Shiva temple is situated on a hill on the banks of Betwa river. It is believed that this temple was built by the famous Parmar dynasty king Bhoj of Dhar to establish Shiva Linga. That is why this temple is known as Bhojeshwar Mahadev Temple. This temple is also known as Somnath of North India. The carving work done on the inscriptions of this temple shows that it was built in the 11th century. A festival is organized every year in this Shiva temple on the festival of Shivaratri. It is also believed about Bhojeshwar Mahadev Temple that it was built during the time of Pandavas. It is believed that for the worship of Lord Shiva by mother Kunti, the Pandavas had resolved to complete it in one night, but the construction of this temple could not be completed, so this temple is incomplete till date.
