About Birla Mandir
Birla Mandir is a famous Hindu temple located in Kolkata, West Bengal. The temple was built by the Birla family (Industrialist) and is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha. The construction of the temple began in 1970 A.D. but it was completed in 1996 A.D. The Pran Prathistha ceremony of the idols was done by Swami Chidananda Maharaj. The magnificent Birla Mandir of Kolkata is an ideal work of art and is one of the finest architectural beauties of the city. The whole temple has been constructed with sandstone and white marble, apart from the beautiful Radha and Krishna idols, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva, ten avatars of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga are the other deities positioned here. The most interesting feature of this temple is the evening Aarti. A festival like Janmashtami is also celebrated at this Birla Mandir.
