About Budhanilkantha Temple Kathmandu

Budhanilkantha Temple is located in the Budhanilkantha municipality of Kathmandu district. Budhanilkantha Temple is dedicated to Lord MahaVishnu; this temple is also known as the Narayanthan temple. "Buddhanilkantha" literally means "Blue-throated Buddha." This statue of Lord Vishnu symbolises God Vishnu, who is regarded as one of the "Trimurtis," along with Brahma and Shiva. This statue attracts the Buddhist devotees because it features a Buddha on its forehead. Budhist devotees believed that this statue of Lord Vishnu represents Avalokiteshvara in the form of a reclinin Naga. Harishayani and Haribodhini Ekadashis are major festivals that celebrated atBudhanilkantha Temple.
