About Galvihara Temple - Dehiwala
Galvihara Temple in Dehiwala, also called Nawa Polonnaru Gal Viharaya, is a peaceful Buddhist temple built as a replica of the famous Gal Vihara in Polonnaruwa. The temple has beautifully made Buddha statues in standing, seated, and reclining positions, similar to the original ones carved from rock. People visit this temple to pray, meditate, and enjoy the calm atmosphere. The statues are made in the same size as the ancient ones, which makes the place special. The temple gives visitors a chance to experience the beauty and serenity of Sri Lankan Buddhist art without traveling far.
