Kalika Mata Mandir

About Kalika Mata Mandir

Shri Kalika Mata Temple of Ratlam is about 350 years old and is considered the main center of faith of Ratlam. This temple was built during the reign of Raja Ratansinghji (1656-1658). It is believed that when Raja Ratansinghji controlled a furious elephant in Agra, the Mughal emperor Shahjahan awarded him the estate of Ratlam. After this, Raja Ratansinghji brought the idol of Goddess Kalika from Dharad and established this temple in Ratlam. The idol was consecrated by Thakur Bhagwandas. The idols of three major goddesses are installed in this temple, including 1. Mata Kalika 2. Mata Chamunda 3. Mata Annapurna. This temple holds special significance not only for the people of Ratlam but also for the devotees of the entire Malwa region. The beauty of traditional craftsmanship can be seen in its carvings and sculpture. The nine days of Navratri are celebrated with special fervor in this temple. The special thing here is that Garba takes place from 3 am, which is called "Pratahkali Garba". This tradition has been going on for the last 50 years. Women and girls especially come to do Garba at this time to seek blessings of Maa Kalika. Kalika Mata Mandir is not only a religious place, but it is a living symbol of Ratlam's culture, history and faith. Its splendor is worth seeing during Navratri. This temple is a wonderful center of power, devotion and dedication for the devotees.
