Indore's Kanch Mandir, also known as Sheesh Mahal, celebrates Jain festivals like Mahavir Jayanti, Sugandh Dashami, mass Kshamavani and annual Rath Yatra with great pomp in the temple. A procession of a golden chariot is also taken out on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. There is a Jain temple built by Sir Seth Hukumchand Jain. The temple is famous for its unique architecture, the entire temple is adorned with glass. The interior covered with glass panels and mosaics gives the temple a wonderful and attractive look. The Kanch Mandir was built in 1903 by Seth Hukumchand Kasliwal. The stained glass was imported from Belgium, and the decoration was done by artisans from Jaipur and Iran. The foundation of the temple was laid in 1912, and its construction was completed in 1921. The walls, ceiling, pillars and floor of the temple are adorned with glass and silver. The idol of Lord Shantinath in the sanctum sanctorum has layers of glass on both sides, making his image appear endless. The glass chandeliers and silver plated doors of the temple further enhance its grandeur.
