About Maa Ambika Shakti peeth

The Maa Ambika Shakti Peeth also known as Virat Shakti Peeth is a highly revered Hindu pilgrimage site located atop a serene hill in Papri village near Viratnagar, about 90 km from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Counted among the sacred 51 Shakti Peethas, this ancient temple marks the divine spot where the fingers of Goddess Sati’s left foot fell; here, the supreme goddess is worshipped as Maa Ambika, while her protective consort Lord Shiva is revered alongside her as Lord Amriteshwar (or Amrit Bhairav). Rich in mythological history, the temple dates back to the Mahabharata era, when Viratnagar served as the capital of the Matsya Kingdom; local legends hold that the Pandavas and Draupadi regularly offered prayers at this hilltop shrine during their Agyatvas (exile in hiding). Today, the temple becomes a vibrant spiritual hub during its most famous festivals, particularly the Sharad Navratri and Chaitra Navratri, when thousands of devotees gather to witness grand rituals, undergo fasts, and seek blessings under the glow of the eternal holy flame (Akhand Jyot).
