The Mundeshwari Temple, also known as Mundeshwari Devi Temple, is an ancient temple located in Kaimur district of Bihar. The temple is situated at a height of about 600 feet on the top of the Pavra Hill. The temple has been declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and is considered to be one of the oldest temples in India. Mundeshwari Devi Temple is an ancient and historical Hindu temple located on the Pavra Hill in Kaimur district of Bihar. The temple is dedicated to Mundeshwari Devi, revered as Goddess Durga, and is considered to be one of the oldest functioning temples in the world. The temple has a unique tradition of sacrifice, called "bloodless sacrifice". Here the goat is laid down at the feet of the goddess and after chanting some mantras, the goat becomes unconscious. After some time, it is brought back to consciousness through mantras and is freed. In this process, the goat is not killed and neither blood is shed.
