About Shila Devi Temple Jaipur

Shila Devi Temple is a famous destination in Jaipur, Rajasthan and is dedicated to the Goddess Durga. This temple stands within Amer Fort. In 1604 A.D. Maharaja Man Singh brought the Goddess Shila Mata's statue from Jessore, Bangladesh. The god appeared in the Maharaja's dream and instructed him to recover her statue, which was floating in the sea near Jessore in Bangladesh and place it in a temple. Raja Man Singh found the idol in the water in the form of a Shila and when it was cleaned and washed, the current idol appeared as Shila Mata. It took ten years to build the temple. Festivals like Navratri are celebrated with beautiful lights and all devotees offer special prayers at the Shila Devi Temple.
