Shree Shanidev Temple is a temple of Lord Shani, the Hindu god associated with the planet Saturn. It is located in Shingnapur village of Ahmednagar district in the state of Maharashtra. The presiding deity in the temple is Lord Shani and the temple is a Jagrut Devasthan, which means that a deity still resides in the temple premises. The main deity of the temple is Swayambhu, who emerged from the earth in the form of a black imposing stone. The village of Shingnapur is also famous for the fact that no house in the village has doors; despite this, the villagers have not reported the occurrence of theft up until now, as they believe that Lord Shani punishes anyone attempting theft.

Shani Temple Shingapur History

The history of Shani Shingnapur dates back more than 300 years ago when a shepherd found a black stone in the riverbed near the village. He tried to lift it, but it was too heavy. He then heard a voice from the stone that said that it was an idol of Lord Shani and that it should be installed in the village.

By Air

The nearest airport is Shirdi Airport (SAG), located about 14 kilometres from the temple. Shirdi Airport has regular flights from major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. After landing, you can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to reach the temple. The drive takes around 20 to 30 minutes.

By Road

Local Transport: There are buses and taxis available from major cities like Shirdi, Nashik and Aurangabad to reach Shani Shingnapur Temple.

The best time to visit Shani Shingnapur Temple is between October and March, when the weather is cool and pleasant.
