About Shri Ayyappa Swamy Temple - Sabarimala
Shri Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Sabarimala is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in India, located in the forests of Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, who is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and Lord Mohini (Lord Vishnu). It is situated on the hilltop called Sabarimala and can be reached after a holy trek. Devotees follow strict vows of purity, fasting, and discipline for 41 days before visiting. Pilgrims greet each other with “Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.” The temple is especially crowded during Mandala and Makaravilakku seasons, when millions of devotees come for darshan.
