Durgiana Temple or Shri Durgiana Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Amritsar, Punjab. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and its architecture is similar to the Sikh Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple). Figures of incarnations of Hindu gods are engraved on the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The Durgiana Temple was built in 1921, although it is believed that the temple existed even before 1921. The temple existed in the 16th century and was renovated in 1921 by Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor. Durgiana Temple is a famous temple of Hinduism located in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab, India. This temple is especially known as a symbol of reverence and faith towards Mother Durga. This temple is dedicated in honor of Mother Durga and was known as "Durgiana" in ancient times. It is said that this temple was built after a miraculous incident, when a python appeared in a small river near the temple. This incident inspired people to build the temple and made this place important from a religious point of view. The architecture of the Durgaiana temple is very similar to the Golden Temple, but there are some differences in it. White marble and gold have been used mainly in the structure of the temple, which makes it even more attractive. The central part of the temple is circular and high, with a beautiful dome. A grand and attractive idol of Mata Durga is installed in the temple. In this idol, Mata Durga is depicted with various weapons in her eight hands. This idol is the main center of worship and reverence for the devotees. There is a holy pond near the temple, whose water is used by the devotees for bathing and worship. This pond also has religious significance and is considered to be comparatively more sacred than the pond of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The main festivals of the temple include 3 festivals 1. Navratri in which special worship and rituals are held during Navratri at the Durgiana temple, in which devotees come to seek blessings from Mata Durga. 2. Vrat and Upvaas in which devotees keep Vrat and Upvaas on special occasions. And lastly Dussehra, on this day Mata Durga is specially worshipped and special events are held at the temple on the occasion of Vijayadashmi.
